The total number of tariff lines at present is 5,638 (please see Table 1 ). The lowest rate of duty imposed is 0% while the highest is 80%. More than half of total tariff lines are currently dutiable at 3%. Tariff lines dutiable at 10% and 20% follow with shares of 14% and 13%, respectively, of the total number of lines. Only 2% of tariff lines are imposed duties above 30%.

In 2000, fully 97% of tariff lines will have tariffs of 20% and below. Only 176 lines representing 3% of the total number of lines will still have tariffs ranging from 30% to 65%. The tariff range narrows from 0% to 65%.
